The most popularly used client side language is Java Script. It was initially called as live script, which was later enhanced and renamed as Java Script by Sun Microsystems and others.
Today Java Script is based on open standards called "ECMA Script" and it has nothing to compare with Java and other languages.
It is not a user friendly language and every user needs to understand its requirements and its programming support model for HTML and others.
Why Java Script ?
To provide dynamic behavior for a web page or for HTML content in client side we use Java Script.
Java Script is more used client side validations and some other tasks. It reduces network traffic by performing some tasks in client side (validations) and also improves performances by reducing load on server for every small task.
